Scam awareness
Check Before Responding to a Bank Message
A letter, email, text, social post, or call may imitate a bank or public agency. Do not trust a message solely because it uses a familiar name, logo, or personal details.
Pause before sharing information
Do not reply with account details, passwords, PINs, or verification codes. Avoid links and phone numbers in unexpected messages. Contact the organization through its official website or a contact method you already trust.
Verify mail about a loan or account
If a letter claims there is a problem with your account or loan, compare it with your records and contact the institution using a trusted number or website. Do not rely on contact details printed in a letter you cannot verify.
If you suspect a scam
- Save the message, envelope, or caller details.
- Report suspected fraud through a verified channel.
- If you shared credentials or sent money, contact your financial institution promptly and ask what steps are available.
